When I was single, making a trip back to Malaysia was easy. I took my passport and drove away. We’re parents plus there’s COVID-19 now, even after we pre-prepared all necessary documents, maybe because of an oversight, we have to make a u-turn at the checkpoint.

12/12 Our family took a VTL bus to Singapore checkpoint. The customs officer said that my daughter’s PR re-entry permit is expired. Once she leaves Singapore, her PR status will be cancelled immediately. We can only u-turn 😏

When we got home, we immediately (1) renewed our daughter’s PR re-entry permit, (2) applied Home Surveillance Order (HSO) in Malaysia, and (3) booked 3 slots at Intemedical Clinic^ to do PCR on 15/12

15/12 The PR re-entry permit has been renewed, and the Home Surveillance Order (HSO) in Malaysia has also been approved. We went to Intermedical Clinic for PCR test

16/12 The PCR report is ready, everyone is safe. We drove to Singapore checkpoint and went thought smoothly. When I arrived at Malaysian checkpoint, I filled in a lot of repeated personal information (name, date of birth, passport, address, etc.) in the first counter. The second counter is to check the vaccination certificate, PCR report and Home Surveillance Order (HSO) approval letter. Checked the file again at the third counter. In the fourth counter, we paid RM150 per person to do PCR Saliva. Each person has to spit 5ml of saliva.

20/12 Go a nearby clinic to do PCR (RM150-230). With a wrist band, so better call to make appointment before going.

23/12 Bring along PCR report to the nearest Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah, to cut the wrist band

^Why Intemedical Clinic?
SATA PCR Adult is $107, but they do not do PCR for children
Intemedical’s PCR Adult is $125 child is $135
If two adults do PCR at SATA + children do PCR at Intemedical, total will be $349.
If all were done in Intemedical, total will be $385
Parents do PCR/ART in front of the children, will be easier because they are not alone. As a parent, do you think paying extra $36 worth the effort? Don’t forget that you saved time and transportation fare because don’t need to run two clinics.

Intemedical Clinic

*PCR test accepts Cash/Credit card. Why cash?
*Jenggu double charged me due to their system error
*If kid doesn’t know how to split 5ml of saliva, cash is refundable and change to PCR Swab

Chiang Mai, Thailand: Taking my 58 and 61 years old parents to water rafting! Are we crazy?

Year 2010, my dad was 61 years old and my mom was 58 years old. Me and my siblings took our parents with us to a trip in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Throwback to the Chiang Mai, Thailand trip, we were all not in the right mind. The trip included elephant trekking, mountain trekking, flying fox and white water rafting!
